Janhvi Kapoor Shares Experience of Suffering a Panic Attack During a Reality Show: “Broke Down in Tears and Howled

In a recent conversation with Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about a challenging moment she faced during the promotion of her debut film, “Dhadak.” The actress revealed that she experienced a “panic attack” on a TV reality show, reflecting on the profound impact her mother’s (Sridevi) passing had on her.

Recalling the incident, Kapoor shared, “I went on a dance show shortly after my mother’s passing, promoting ‘Dhadak.’ It was still a raw wound, and everyone around me was understandably cautious not to trigger any painful memories.” However, during the show’s planning, there was no indication that a segment about her mother would be included. Kapoor described how the show played a video montage featuring her mother’s iconic songs and dance performances, accompanied by an emotional voiceover. Despite the beautiful homage, Kapoor found it overwhelming, confessing, “I wasn’t prepared. I couldn’t contain my emotions, and it led to a panic attack. I ran off the stage in tears and sought refuge in my van.”

The production team discreetly edited out her breakdown, replacing it with footage of Kapoor applauding, masking her reaction to the emotional segment. Kapoor emphasized that the segment causing her distress was later substituted with a different shot.

Janhvi Kapoor, the daughter of the late superstar Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, has garnered attention for her roles in various films, including “Roohi,” “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl,” “Ghost Stories,” and “GoodLuck Jerry.” Her debut in Bollywood came with “Dhadak,” where she starred alongside Ishaan Khatter.
